Karate Kids

Claire and Caden have been taking karate for a couple of months now. At first I thought it might be something just Caden would be interested in. He needed an outlet for some of his energy. Clay was busy with football, Claire was playing soccer and I thought this would be something special Caden could do. But Claire was not going to be outdone by her little brother! I decided to let her go too, thinking she would tire of it after the first couple classes. But...she rocks!! She is so tall and her arms and legs are so long that she can punch and kick without the other kids being able to reach her. They both love it! The first Thursday of the month is "sparring night". They have to wear mouthpieces and Caden has to wear a cup. (He-he...I didn't know they made them this small:) They put on a big chest pad, shin guards, gloves and head gear and spar with the other kids in the class. Last week they had an "in-class" tournament for the white belts. Claire beat 1 girl and 4 boys to take first place! Caden held his own against the big kids and got fifth place. Check out the trophies!!

He is so proud - his first trophy ever!

Yep! She just knocked that kid down!

This is Caden's mean face - complete with a growl!
Very intimidating!

Kindergarten

Claire started Kindergarten on August 27th and is loving every minute of it! The bus, her teacher, the computers, the snacks, and even the homework! She is all smiles when she gets on the bus and all smiles when she comes back home! My heart breaks to see her go. I can't believe that she is even big enough for school but I'm so excited for all of her new experiences. She has some really amusing stories to share when she gets home and Caden likes to hear all about it!

I guess with kindergarten comes...

her first loose tooth!!
She wiggled and wiggled and finally asked daddy to pull it out (and didn't even flinch!).
She is sooo proud of that little hole:)

New Arrival

Carleigh Ryder Henson
arrived on August 24, 2009 at 9:43am.
6 lb. 14 oz. 19.5 in.

What an amazingly busy, exciting time this has been for our family! We had Carleigh on a Monday, Bryce started a new job the same day, came home from the hospital on Tuesday, Clay started 7th grade on Wednesday and Claire started Kindergarten on Thursday! Whew! Throw in a few soccer and football games/practice and you've got the makings of the newly revised Henson household. (Thanks Mom, for all your help!)

Now, by the time I am writing this, we seem to have settled into our new "normal" version of chaos complete with lunches packed, uniforms washed, permission slips signed, 3 year old dressed (sort-of) and baby fed (again!). Not sure why Susan didn't tell me how hard this would be...guess she knew I would figure it out! I know that God doesn't give us more than we can handle but it's interesting to me that he seems to push me right to the edge just to keep me on my knees:)
Enjoy the pics!

Gotta love baby toes!!

So Sweet!

Ready to leave for the hospital.

Claire is fascinated - in awe!

Ready to take my babies home!

Beautiful big sister!

Typical big brother - decided to put her hair bow on her forehead:)

Big brother, Caden - so proud!

Sweet girls!
